I was at the Area:One Tour it was held at Thunderbird Stadium which is the University of British Columbia's athletic stadium. They had on Moby, New Order with the awesome Billy Corgan, and that black group from Georgia, Outkast. I took some snapshots if anyone would like to see them. Moby was the best part, he is a genius of a guy isn't he? New Order played Regret first and then i remember Billy came on stage to sing Turn My Way i think. It was a mixed crowd, you know, university students and into that west-coast alternative vibe really.

You sure you were there, arthouse? It was dreadful. A 'dry' gig in a college football stadium and pouring down with rain. New Order opened with Atmosphere and Corgan was there the entire set. Some girl at the front had a placard saying 'Let Billy sing' and Hooky made a comment about it after track one at which point she put it away. We left straight after New Order and headed back into town. One of my worst experiences following New Order. Terrible show.
Indeed, a shocker of a gig, not so much anything to do with the band, but the setting and the lack of alcohol to numb the senses.
Most memorable part of that leg of the Area : One Tour was negotiating our way through customs at Vancouver Airport. The customs official wanted to know why we were in Canada on vacation but only for 48 hours and couldn't quite get her head around the fact we had come from England to watch a band from, er, England. Then she starts talking about New Order and they were stood, like, 10 yards away from us with another customs official!. Embarrassing ?? oh, ever so slightly.
And Al managed to cheer Barney up by announcing he'd downloaded Get Ready !!

that's a pretty funny story. San Fran was way cooler of a gig, though the colorado one when the collabed with moby and gillian was there seemed to be the best of the lot.
