drink is the connection here too. New Order played a real dive in Bradford mid 80's - I have fond memories of the rection the fanbase got in some of the local pubs that evening - one of whom I recall ran out of beer....come on what was the name of that place

they have played bradford twice...i think the venue you are talking about is ceasars palace...(1984).....i never went to that, however the other gig in bradford..(1986)..was at the equally wank st georges hall...this one i did go to....poor gig and venue...band in a bad mood and never encored...most people couldnt get out of the place quick enough!!

Caesar's Palace, ahhh. Manningham Lane, Bradford was (maybe still is) the town's Red Light district and Peter Sutcliffe's stalking ground.

Very fond memories for me as I spoke briefly to Steve Morris just before they went on stage. I don't remember it as being a particularly bad venue, for my money the worst place I've seen them play was Liverpool's Royal Court. Wasn't this the first time they played Face Up?

No that was at the Music for Miners Gig at the Royal Festival Hall (in London, for the benefit of the Manchester lads, London, England for our Yankee friends)

Didn't mind the Royal Court so much, noone plays there any more do they ? Surely Macclesfield was worse, that venue was just not up to receiving loads of lads for a gig. Saw a lot of gigs at the Royal Court in the 80s [including Madness as a nipper!] and getting NO, The Smiths and The Fall under one roof was an experience. Good proximity for Lime St Station too when you've gotta leg it back for the last train to Chester !.

You're right Johnny, Macclesfield was pretty poor, I remember watching the Mondays from that tiny bar upstairs! And driving there, that was an experience. Me and four mates crammed into my mum's Fiat Panda doing about 90 up the M56 and wondering why the engine was making such a weird noise until I realised I was only in third gear Big Grin Didn't Bernard break the neck on his Squier strat during Elegia that night?
