I just LOVE this track. It is perfect. Hooky's lovely bass, Gillian's beautiful synths, Steve's kick-a$$ wicked drums, and Bernard's wonderful voice and guitars go together so marvelously. And, I just love that huge synth breakdown with the frog chorus and Hooky going wild way up high on that bass with Steve's very tribal-sounding drums. I end up playing this one every day. And, I finally was able to see the video of it (I am late on music videos, only been a few months since I first was able to get ahold of them) and that one is my favourite one out of hundreds I have seen recently.
New Order is one of the few bands in which I actually like EVERYTHING that they do.
I play synthesizer like they do, but I have coincidentally done that before I even heard of New Order, while experimenting on borrowed synths and teaching myself how to play when I was a kid before I could have my own keyboard. I was delighted when I first heard them, in hearing a band that went in the same direction musically that my personal tastes took me.
I have been trying to put a band together like these guys, sort of in the style they did on their older stuff up to around '90 but all original, and not trying to copy them exactly (I saw an interview in which Bernard prefers bands to not try to copy them exactly, but he is happy when they find inspiration from New Order like I do) but am wanting to take that sound in a fresh direction with all-original music.
