This is a review i got from Antoine

They came onstage with Barney going like :"Je m'appelle New Order, Je m'appelle Bernard, Je m'appelle Pierre, Je m'appelle Stephane, Je m'appelle Phil Cunningham, Je m'appelle Crystal." - also I was right in front of Bernard, like 2nd or 3rd row, with me head emerging from the whole audience (1m90) and bernard staring at me in the eyes during two third of the gig, finally pointing at me and admitting he never looked at me in a sexual way in his life before red facep
Just before Transmission, he mocked at a guy wearing some bootleg Joy Division Tshirt, asking some guys where they were from ("Scotland", they shouted) and asking them what they wanted the band to play "no no we don't play Age Of Consent anymore..."
Favorite bit was True Faith (with some additional Barney guitar riffs during the intro) and weakest moment was Bizarre Love Triangle cos I thought the song was slowed down a bit (in fact it seemed the whole set was slowed down), Bizarre Love Triangle, being one of my favorites, was not at its highest musical potential. Hook stayed for a minute or so at the end of LWTUA, playing bass for the song, the crowd chanting the chorus. Nice. At the encore, Bernard came back with his coat on, tlling the crowd he was ready to leave already, some roadie took his coat off, and then, as he was finishing
with the synth bits during Blue Monday, the roadie put his coat on as he was still playing, and then he just left. It seems to me the set was beautifully rendered, it looks like they didn't fucked up one song at all. The beginning of the show was a bit injuring, everybody got crushed, I thought I couldn't stand it really. It went quieter during Your silent Face and Atmosphere, thank god red face) Rock The Shack, despite being nicely played, didn't seem to gain much interest from the audience. But all in all the band wasn't very talkative. Hook performed his whole old floor-sweeping bass routine.

Other performances included some french band Experience which sounded like deja-vu (Noir Desir, Miossec) and The Music which are 17-yr old kids beautifully performing songs, but as they were the third band coming onstage, and as everybody was told two band were to play before new order, nobody expected an additionnal band to play, so the crowd didn't pick much of their show. The second band was very good though I don't know their name, the singer has a very good presence onstage.

*************************************************Was too lazy to turn the computer on when back home, to give you tids'n'bits about my bithday gig. Nov, 12th, that is. So here they are.

Same same same same. Not as good as sunday's gig.

Your silent face BEFORE Atmosphere, not AFTER.

What about a change, Bernard. Noticed most of the audience weren't huge huge fans. Some came here to see some 80's band perform. A french guy said "see you in 14 years !" - a Brit fellow said "Sack Phil, he's pants"

Bernard introduced TBTHOG as a song to calm things a bit down. (WAHAHAHA)

Some french twat spoiled me fun complaining about me bouncing way too much (hell where does he think he was in ? a tea room ? There were seats over at the balcony, you c*nt !)

Encore was RTS, RIAD, BM. Bernard introducing Blue Monday as Fucking Blue Monday, played 5.000 times... bla bla. I mean if they don't want it played, they shouldn't play it.

Fave bit was True Faith, again. Love that guitar. Weakest was BLT. Pah.

Introduced Phil in the middle of the gig, and then saying again, as on sunday "je m'appelle Bernard, je m'appelle Chtéphen" (hey we are in France, not germany, bernard) "je m'appelle Hooky !"

I'm glad they took over that big fat bastard. Man, this guy should be topic of a documentary. This time, he came with Bananas over his shoulder, he's had the same jacket and pants for years, he came with a girl he must have annoyed backstage, she was here to translate. "they're not the rolling stones, they're not bananas, they fucking new order !"

Hook doesn't even smile a bit - Phil is a good guitarist really. Steve was mostly surrounded by smoke and the lights. Couldn't see him easily from down the front. Hook stayed to perform a couple of notes more from LWTUA, and Bernard came to turn off his bass amp. Bernard spotted reading lyrics from the monitors during Your Silent Face. Someone asked for the "Kiss Of
Death" - Bernard wasn't too pleased to hear my request for "Vivid". razz

Something I noticed. I looked at Bernard's mouth during Temptation cos that old topic came to my mind...[...] from above hurt/hit/whatever the people down below.
I looked at what he was saying, and I tend to think it was a V. As in Volts.
Volts from above... Lightning ? Whatever...

Gig was not as good. Bernard enjoyed I think, but I found it was a bit difficult at the beginning... I don't know.

the girl onstage with alan Wise - for the translations- was the Kas Product 'singer, a french band(now split up).Her name was Monna Soyiock.Kas Product came from Nancy , they were an indie band. They did a few albums and they were the leaders of the French cold wave, with groups like Marc seberg ,Octobre ,Theo Hakola'Orchestre Rouge.

I heard the 11th November show on the radio and recorded it. Late at night i was still thinking about the band and had different thoughts...I was happy to hear NO again but i thought I could not" travel" much further with them . Why ? I didn't exactly know..A few months later i saw them in Paris( see my review in this forum) and Wooww it was magic again!
